Joseph Ngwenya had a 69th minute penalty kick and was assisted by Cody Albrecht on a 79th minute goal to lead DC United to a 4-1 Major League Soccer Reserve League win over the Philadelphia Union Sunday at RFK Stadium and keep them on top of the East Division standings at 4-0-1 with 13 points.
DC opened the game with a 2-0 lead as Stephen King had an unassisted 22nd minute goal, then, a minute later, Blake Brettschneider connected with Kurt Morsink on the next goal.
Philadelphia scored in the 48th minute as Roger Torres assisted Darius Madison to avoid the shutout. The Union is in fourth place in the division at 1-2-1 with four points.
DC United travels to the New York Red Bulls next Sunday, while the Union is off until July 18 when they play the New England Revolution on the road.
