MISL's Norfolk SharX Name Hall Inaugural Head Coach

The Norfolk SharX of the Major Indoor Soccer League held a news conference Tuesday to announce Jon Hall has been named the expansion team's inaugural head coach.

Hall began his playing career during his high school years in England on the academy and reserve teams of Watford FC before coming to the US to play collegiately at American University, where the midfielder was a four-time All-Conference pick who scored 30 goals in his career and was named a 1990 All-South Atlantic Region player.

Hall returned to England after graduation to play for Milwall FC.

Returning to the States years later, Hall played for the Hampton Roads Hurricanes and the Richmond Kickers in the United Systems of Interregional Soccer League.

At Richmond, he played every minute of every game for two seasons, including their Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and USISL Championship seasons.

In 1998, he was named the team captain for the USL First Division's Virginia Beach Mariners.

He made his head coaching debut in USL in 2006 with the Premier Development League's Virginia Beach Submariners, leading them to a 10-5-1 record and the Mid-Atlantic Division's regular season title in his first season.

In 2007, he took over the head coahing job of the Hampton Roads Piranhas, where he led them to a 14-0-2 record and setting a league record with 10 straight shutouts. Hall was voted the PDL's Coach of the Year that season, as well.

Hall, who currently coaches for Beach FC, is on the Virginia Youth Soccer Association's State Education Staff and is director of coaching for the Southeast District Olympic Development Program and was a ODP head coach in the state.

A holder of a USSF A and a UEFA B license, he has also served as the athletic director for Virginia Beach's Baylake Pines School since 1995.
