Pascal Millen scored a sixth minute goal off a pass from Aaron King and later assisted Mike Ambersley on an 84th minute strike as host FC Tampa Bay defeated FC Edmonton 3-1 in North American Soccer League play Wednesday at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, FL.
Shane Hill added a unassisted goal for Tampa Bay at the hour mark.
Edmonton would tie the game at 1-1 in the 28th minute as Dan Antoniuk assisted Alex Semenets on a goal, but it was the closest the visitors ever got.
FC Tampa Bay is 6-6-6 with 24 points and is now two points behind Edmonton (7-7-4) and the NSC Minnesota Stars (6-4-6), both at 25 points, for sole possession of third place in the league standings.
Tampa is now off until next Saturday when they travel to the Atlanta Silverbacks, but Edmonton plays again this Saturday when they face the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
