McLarney Double Helps Phantoms Beat Pioneers, But Both Tied For Second In Standings

Robbie McLarney scored goals in the 42nd and 81st minute off Eric Masi and Chris Tsonis, respectively, as the New Hampshire Phantoms defeated the host Western Mass Pioneers 3-1 Friday in USL Premier Development League play at Lusitano Stadium.

Tsonis also had an unassisted goal in the victory.

Teodoro Popolizio had New Hampshire's goal in the 27th minute off a Taylor Gorman feed.

With the victory, though, New Hampshire (5-5-2) and Western Mass (5-3-2) are tied for second place in the Eastern Conference's Northeast Division with 17 points and are four points behind division-leading MPS Portland Phoenix (6-2-2, 20).

Both the Phantoms and Pioneers meet again Saturday, this time at Portsmouth (NH) High School
