Scott McCoubrey scored goals in the 26th minute off a Liam Collins assist and in the 45th by Tevon Wynter as host Hamilton FC Rage edged the Akron Assault Summit in a matchup of USL Premier Development League expansion teams Wednesday at Brian Timmins Field.
Thomas Schmidt tallied Akron's goal in the final minute of regulation play off Michael O'Neil.
Both Hamilton and Akron are current 4-5-3 with 15 points and are in a tie for fourth place with the Toronto Lynx (5-6-0) and the Indiana Invaders (4-6-3) in the Central Conference's Great Lakes Division.
The Rage hosts the Chicagi Fire Friday, while the Assault head to the German Club Friday to face Forest City London.
