Host Shy Blue FC and expansion magicJack FC played to a 2-2 draw Saturday in Women's Professional Soccer play at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
magicJack FC, formerly the Washington Freedom before bolting to Fort Lauderdale, FL, took a 2-0 lead as Sarah Huffam assisted on goals in the 13th minute by Christen Press and in the 37th minute by Omolyn Davis before Sky struck back as Jeni Branam assisted Adriano in the 66th minute and Allie Long connected with Michelle Wenino in the 77th minute.
Despite incurring a one-point penalty in the standings for violating league procedures, magicJack is in third place in the league standings at 5-4-1 with 15 points, while Sky, the inaugural league champion in 1999, is in fourth place at 3-4-4 with 13 points.
Both teams take on the expansion Western New York Flash at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, NY for their next matchday -- Sky next Sunday, magicJack July 20.
