Jonathan Fana's goal in the final minute of play gave the Puerto Rico Islanders a 4-3 road victory over the Atlanta Silverbacks in a Fourth of July North American Soccer League game at Silverbacks Park in Atlanta.
David Foley assisted on an Aaron Pitchklolan goal and converted a penalty kick in the victory and Matt Bouraee added a goal as the Islanders improved to 6-4-4 with 22 points, good for third place in the league standings and putting them four behind FC Edmonton (7-3-4, 25 points) for sole possession of second place. The Islanders next host FC Tampa Bay Saturday at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon.
Cieran O'Brien scored two goals, including a penalty kick, and assisted on Junior Sandoval's goal for Atlanta, who have the worst record in the NASL at 1-11-2 with five points. They will travel to Lockhart Stadium Saturday to face the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
