Haworth Contributes As Forest City London Handles Akron Summit Assault

Carl Haworth scored in the 53rd minute off a Gary Ogilvie assist, then assisted Jonathan Cordoba on the game-winning 85th minute goal as host Forest City London shut down the expansion Akron Summit Assault in USL Premier Development League play at the German Club in London, Ontario, Canada Friday.

Scott Bibby tied the game at 1-1 in the 78th minute off a goal assisted by Todd Rutledge.

London (7-3-1, 22 points) is in third place in a tight Central Conference - Great Lakes Division, sitting four points behind the Chicago Fire (8-2-1, 25) for sole possession of second place and five behind the division-leading Michigan Bucks (8-2-2, 26). London is on the road Wednesday to face the Toronto Lynx at Centennial Park Stadium and take on the Bucks next Saturday at Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, MI.

Akron, meanwhile, is 4-6-3 with 15 points and in a four-way tie for fourth place with Hamilton FC Rage and the Indiana Invaders, also 4-6-3, and the Lynx, at 5-6-0. The Summit will meet the Invaders Tuesday at the Invaders Soccer Complex.
