Danny Barrera's 64th minute unassisted goal and a 75th minute insurance play from Mickey Daly to Mark Magee gave the Ventura County Fusion a 2-0 victory over the host LA Blues 23 2-0 Saturday in USL Premier Development League play at Palisades High School.
The win improved the Fusion's hold on top of the Western Conference's Southwest Division at 9-0-4 with 31 points, tying them for most points in the league with the Eastern Conference - Mid-Atlantic Division-leading Long Island Rough Riders, though the Rough Riders have a better record at 10-0-1.
Ventura County will host the BYU Cougars Friday at Ventura College.
The Blues 23 are 3-7-2 with 11 points and are in fifth place in the division and will host the Ogden Outlaws Friday.
