Major League Soccer's FC Dallas became the first team to hit 10 wins this season with a 2-0 shutout of the Columbus Crew Saturday at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX that allowed them to retain the Pioneer Cup trophy between the teams.
FC Dallas lost to the Crew at Crew Stadium in April by a similar score, but is now unbeaten in 12 of their last 13 games.
Brek Shea scored his fourth goal in as many games and is now tied for the Golden Boot award with eight goals after obtaining his unassisted 58th minute goal. Jackson later added the insurance goal in the 76th minute off Andrew Jacobsen.
FC Dallas is now 10-4-4 with 34 points and is in second place in the Western Conference, two points behind the Los Angeles Galaxy for the lead in the conference and the Supporters Shield race for the league's best record. They will travel to Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium next Saturday.
Columbus is 6-5-6 with 24 points and is in third place in the Eastern Conference race, two points behind the New York Red Bulls (5-5-10, 25) for second place and four behind the Philadelphia Union (7-4-6, 27) for the conference lead. The Crew takes on the Vancouver Whitecaps at Empire Field Wednesday.
