Eagles, Silverbacks To Meet For W-League Eastern Conference Title Friday

The host Charlotte Lady Eagles and the Atlanta Silverbacks will meet Friday at Charlotte Christian Stadium for the USL W-League's Eastern Conference championship and a spot in the four-team field for the league's Championship July 29 and 31 at the Seattle Sounders' Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA with semifinal playoff wins Thursday.

In the first semifinal, Sam Huecker scored unassisted twice -- in the 33rd and 42nd -- to lead the Lady Eagles to a 2-1 win over the Long Island Rough Riders, who scored their lone goal as an own goal.

In game two, Megan Tomlinson had the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute off Bailey Powell as the Silverbacks edged the New Jersey Wildcats 3-2.

Tiffani Turpin put Atlanta up 1-0 in the 12th minute, but New Jersey retaliated six minutes later on Andrea Lopez's goal, however, the Silverbacks got back on track at 2-1 in the 42nd minute on Jamie Pollack's goal.

Jessica Fuccello tied the game in the 63rd minure for the Wildcats before Tomlinson's game-wnning strike.
