Even lightning delays that totaled two hours didn't keep the Charlotte Eagles from losing their focus as they rallied from a goal down to defeat the host Richmond Kickers 2-1 Friday in USL Premier Development League play at City Stadium in the first game of a weekend home-and-home series.
Yomby William put the Kickers on top in the 38th minute off a Luke Vercollone assist, but Charlotte tied the game in the 69th when Mark Bloom assisted Sallieu Bundu, then Jorge Herrera struck the final blow on a pass to Brady Bryant in the final minute of regulation play for the victory.
Charlotte is 7-5-3 with 24 points and is tied for fourth place in the American Division standings with the Wilmington Hammerheads (7-4-3), while the Kickers are in second place in the division at 8-5-3 with 27.
Game two of the series is Saturday at Charlotte's Charlotte Christian Stadium.
