Cunningham Makes MLS, Team History As Crew Shut Out Whitecaps

Jeff Cunningham's 90th minute goal off Josh Gardner gave the Columbus Crew a 1-0 victory Wednesday over the worst team in Major League Soccer this season, the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps, at Empire Field, but he is now tied with Jamie Moreno on the league all-time goal scoring list with 133 and is Columbus' new all-time goal scorer with his 65th of his career there.

The Crew are 7-5-6 with 27 points and tied with the Philadelphia Union (7-4-6) for second place in the Eastern Conference standings, two behind the New York Red Bulls (6-3-10, 28) for sole possession of first place. Columbus hosts the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Crew Stadium.

Vancouver is 2-9-8 with 14 points and is last in the Western Conference standings. They will travel to Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO Saturday to face the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids.
