Chivas, Earthquakes Play To Reserve League Draw

Down to 10 men for most of the game after Paulo Nagamura was ejected in the 35th minute, Marcos Mondaini scored on a 70th minute penalty kick as host Chivas USA played the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer Reserve League play Tuesday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

After a scoreless first half, San Jose took the early lead in the 55th when Ellis McLaughlin connected with Georges Ba on a goal.

Despite the draw, San Jose is in second place in the West Division at 3-2-1 with 10 points and will host the Portland Timbers next Thursday at the Nutrilite Training Facility.

Chivas is now 1-2-2 with five points, in fourth place in the division, and will host the Vancouver Whitecaps September 3.
