Scott Caldwell had a brace and Kyle McCarthy, Robert Barrera and Antoine Hoppenot each conributed goals as the Central Jersey Spartans fought off the host Brooklyn Knights 5-1 Friday in USL Premier Development League play at the Metropolitan Oval.
Adam Maabdi prevented the Knights from being shut out by scoring a goal.
Central Jersey is 3-7-3 with 12 points and is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference's Mid-Atlantic Division. The Spartans take on the Jersey Express Wednesday at Raritan High School in Hazlet, NJ.
Brooklyn is 1-10-1 with four points and is in last place. The Knights host the New Jersey Rangers Sunday.
