David Bulow teamed with Ryan Heins to assist Shaka Bangura's 68th minute goal, then scored on an 83rd minute penalty kick as USL PRO's Richmond Kickers pulled off an upset by shutting out Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS.
It was Kansas City's first loss in any competition since May 21.
The Kickers, the lone non-MLS team to make the semifinal round, will travel to Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL August 30.
Richmond returns to USL PRO play this Saturday when they host Antigua Barracuda FC Saturday at City Stadium.
Sporting Kansas City will put up its 10-game unbeaten streak Saturday when they encounter the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium in Houston.
