Phillip Buffington had a goal and an assist as the Mississippi Brila regained sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference - Southeast Division of the USL Premier Development League after defeating the Baton Rouge Capitals 4-1 Saturday at Harper Davis Field at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.
Mike Azira assisted on Buffington's second goal and on Joey DeMare's 76th minute goal and Mat Luak had an unassisted goal for Mississippi, now leading the division at 9-2-2 with 29 points. Mississippi hosts the New Orleans Jesters Tuesday.
Achille Campeon scored for the Capitals in the 75th minute off a Gary Stopforth assist.
The Capitals are in fourth place at 6-7-1 with 19 points and hosts the West Texas United Sockers next Sunday at Christian Life Academy Stadium.
