David Beckham assisted Landon Donovan on a 58th minute goal, then scored an unassisted game-winning goal in the 66th minute as the Los Angeles Galaxy, Major League Soccer's defending Western Conference and Supporters Shield champion, edged the Chicago Fire 2-1 Saturday at The Home Depot Center.
Cristian Nazarit tied the game at 1-1 for the Fire on a 62nd minute goal with Patrick Nyarko's help.
The Galaxy are a league-best 10-2-9 with 39 points and will host the Columbus Crew July 20.
The Fire, 2-5-12 with 18 points, is tied with Toronto FC (3-9-9) for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. Chicago hosts the Portland Timbers next Saturday.
