Bayona Game-Winner Sets Up Division Title Match For Heat, Patriots

Esteban Bayona fired off an unassisted game-winning goal in the 42nd minute as the Laredo Heat, currently leading the USL Premier Development League's Southern Conference - Mid-South Division at 11-3-1 with 34 points, to a 2-1 win over the West Texas United Sockers in their 2011 home and regular season finale Thursday at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland, TX.

Juan Ibarra Trevino opened the game with an unassisted Heat goal in the fifth minute, then West Texas' Mariano Sapien tied the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute, where it remained until Bayona's game-winner was hit in the back of the net.

The Heat will play their 2011 season finale Sunday against the Chivas El Paso Patriots, second in the division at 10-3-2 with 32 points and in second place, at Patriots Stadium in El Paso for the division's regular season champion and a spot in the USL PDL Playoffs.

West Texas United ended their 2011 season at 5-11-0 with 15 points in their second season of PDL play.
