The assisting by Brent Richards on Richard Abrego's goal in the 54th minute gave the vistitng and defending USL Premier Deveklopment League regular season and league champions Portland Timbers U-23s a 1-1 draw to the host Victoria Highlanders Saturday at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia.
Josh Heard put the Highlanders on the board first in the 48th minute with an assist by Jared Stephens.
The Timbers are 5-5-4 with 19 points and in fifth place in the Western Conference's Northwest Division standings with two road games left on the schedule -- Sunday against the Washington Crossfire at Redmond High School and this Friday against the North Sound Sea Wolves at Goddard Memorial Stadium.
Victoria, second in the division at 7-4-3 with 24 points, closes out its season next Sunday wiith a home game against the Abbostford Mariners.
