Marcos Mondaini, suspended for four games by Major League Soccer for a vicious hit on Real Salt Lake's Javier Morales May 7, returned to Chivas USA Saturday and was assisted by Paulo Nagamura and Chris Cortez on a 70th minute game-winning goal in a 1-0 shutout of the expansion Portland Timbers at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
Chivas (4-4-5, 17 points) is tied for sixth place in the Western Conference standings with the Timbers (5-5-2).
Both teams play next Saturday -- Chivas at the Houston Dynamo, Portland hosting the defending MLS champion Colorado Rapids.
