Whitecaps Draw Earns Them Trip To All-MLS NCC Final Series

Mouloud Akoul's goal in the 113th minute allowed the host Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer to play to a 1-1 draw Wednesday at Empire Field against the Montreal Impact of the North American Soccer League and, by a 2-1 aggregate score, win their two-game Nutrilite Canadian Championship semifinal series, moving them into a similarly-formatted championship series against fellow MLS team Toronto FC.

Toronto FC eliminated the NASL's FC Edmonton from their semifinal series Wednesday with a 1-0 second leg win on a 22nd minute goal from Alan Gordon and a 4-0 aggregate victory.

Vancouver will host the first leg of the championship series May 18 at Empire with Toronto hosting game two May 25 at BMO Field.

The winner will represent Canada in the qualifying round to make the field for the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League.
