Vipers Leave MISL For PASL In 2011-12 Season

The Omaha Vipers, who finished 7-13 and a game out of playoff contention in their lone season in the Major Indoor Soccer League, announced Thursday they will leave the league and join the Professional Arena Soccer League for the 2011-12 season.

The Vipers will become the league's fourth expansion team for next season, joining the Anaheim Bolts, Kansas Magic and Phoenix Monsoon.

The team was recently sold to new majority owner and team president Warren Ferris. They will continue to play home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

The loss of the Vipers in the MISL, where they are still listed as a franchise on their website, leaves the league with four teams -- the champion Milwaukee Wave, regular season champion Baltimore Blast, Missouri Comets and Chicago Riot.
