USL PRO Removes All Puerto Rico Soccer League Teams From League

United Soccer Leagues announced Tuesday it has removed three teams with ties to the Puerto Rico Soccer League -- Puerto Rico United, River Plate Puerto Rico and Sevilla FC Puerto Rico -- from the debut season of USL PRO due to the inability of the teams to continue to meet league standards and obligations.

The three teams were part of the league's five-team International Division with current leader Antigua Barracuda FC (6-2-0, 18 points) and second-place Los Angeles Blues (3-1-1, 10 points).

Puerto Rico United and Sevilla end their brief season in USL PRO with records of 1-2-2 and 1-3-2, respectively, with five points and River Plate was in last place at 0-3-2 with two points.

It is not known at this time if the two remaining teams will continue to compete in a division or if the teams will be merged into one of the league's other two divisions, the American and National.

The remaining USL PRO teams will continue to play a 24-game regular season and games that have been played against the PRSL teams will still count in the league's standings. The league will release a revised playing schedule by week's end.
