Strikers Shutout Highlanders At Pasadena City College

Samantha Johnson assisted Cherelle Khassal on an 18th minute goal and Nancy Avesyan had an unassisted goal in the 88th minute as the Los Angeles Strikers shut out the Victoria Highlanders 2-0 in USL W-League play Wednesday at Pasadena City College.

The Strikers (1-1-0, three points) are tied for the lead in the Western Conference standings with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Pali Blues, both of whom have 1-0-0 records. Los Angeles travels to the Colorado Force Friday.

Victoria, at 0-2-1 with a point, is tied for fourth place in the conference with the Seattle Sounders (0-0-1) and will face the Pali Blues at the Stadum by the Sea at Palisades High School Friday.
