Strikers Fire Rivas, Assistant Coach; Name CSF Head Coach As Replacement

The Los Angeles Strikers, at 2-2-0 with six points and tied for the lead in the USL W-League's Western Conference with the Vancouver Canucks and Pali Blues, both 2-0-0, surprisingly announced Tuesday they have fired head coach Reggie Rivas and his assistant coach after the team lost 4-1 Saturday to the Colorado Force and named Cal State Fullerton women's head coach Demian Brown to the position.

Since joining the school in 2007, Brown has led the Titans to three Big West Conference regular season and tournament titles and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Women's College Cup.

He was also named Big West Conference Coach of the Year in 2007 after becoming the first first-time and first-year head coach in conference history to win a regular season and tournament title in the same season and the second first-year coach to win a regular season title.

Los Angeles will host the Santa Clarita Blue Heat Sunday at Pasadena City College.
