Sky Blue FC shut out the Atlanta Beat 3-0 in Women's Professional Soccer play Saturday at Yurcak Field at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ, but the victory did nothing for either team's hope of getting out of the league's cellar.
Laura Kalmari opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal off a Casey Nogueira assist for the eventual halftime lead. Allie Long then increased the advantage in the 57th minute off a penalty kick and Heather O'Reilly ended the game with a 70th minute unassisted goal.
Sky Blue (1-3-1) and Atlanta (1-5-1) each have four points, the fewest points in the league so far this season and both teams host opponents next Saturday -- Sky Blue welcomes the Boston Breakers, Atlanta hosts magicJack FC.
