Brek Shea scored a goal off an Andrew Jacobson assist in the 18th minute as FC Dallas shut out the host Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer play Wednesday at Qwest Field in Seattle.
Dallas is 6-3-3 with 21 points and are six points behind the Los Angeles Galaxy (7-2-5, 26) for the Western Conference lead and the best record in MLS. They will travel Saturday to face their intrastate rival, the Houston Dynamo.
Seattle, at 4-4-5 with 17 points, is in a four-way tie for third place in the Western standings with the defending league champion Colorado Rapids (4-3-5), Real Salt Lake (5-1-2) and the Portland Timbers (5-3-2). The Sounders next play at RSL Saturday.
