For the first time in league history, the expansion Western New York Flash has supplanted the Los Angeles Sol in 2009 and the Philadelphia Independence last season by having a fourth straight player be named Women's Professional Soccer's Player of the Week in the form of midfielder Caroline Seger for Week 7 Wednesday.
She joins Christine Sinclair (Week 4), Marta (Week 5) and McCall Zerboni (Week 6) in the honor.
Seger scored two goals Saturday in the team's 3-0 shutout of magicJack at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, NY.
The Sol and the Independence each had players win the weekly award for three straight weeks.
