Lindsey Horan had a pair of goals and Gabrielle Miranda and Hannah Peterson each added a goal as the Colorado Rush opened their 2011 USL W-League season and home schedule with a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Strikers Saturday at Valor Christian High School.
Samantha Johnson had the Strikers' lone goal.
With the win, the Rush are now tied at 1-0-0 and three points with the Vancouver Whitecaps for third place in the Western Conference standings. Colorado next faces the Victoria Highlanders Wednesday at Bear Mountain Stadium.
The Strikers are 2-2-0 with six points and are tied for the lead in the conference with the Pali Blues (2-0-0). Los Angeles will host the Santa Clarita Blue Heat next Sunday.
