Cristian Neagu connected with A.J. Shela on a 66th minute goal as the host Northern Virginia Royals crowned the Carolina Dynamo 1-0 Sunday in USL Premier Development League play at Robinson Field on the campus of George Mason University.
The Royals snapped a three-game losing streak to start the season and are 1-3-0 with three points, putting time in a tie for last place in the Eastern Conference's South Atlantic Division with the Virginia Beach Piranhas and the expansion Fredericksburg Hotspur, both at 1-2-0. Northern Virginia hosts the Hotspur this Sunday.
Carolina is 2-1-0 with six points and is tied for second in the division with the Real Maryland Monarchs (same record), four points behind the West Vurginia Choas (3-1-0, 10) for first place. The Dynamo host the Piranhas this Saturday.
