Luke Rodgers worked off passes from Thierry Henry and Dwayne De Rosario to score the game's lone goal in the 22nd minute and lead the New York Red Bulls to a 1-0 shutout of Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer play Saturday at Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls have taken over the lead in the Eastern Conference standings at 4-1-2 with 14 points, while Sporting Kansas City, on a MLS-record 10-game road trip to start the season while final touches are made to their new home, LIVESTRONG Park, has the worst record in the Western Conference and the league at 1-4-2 with five points.
Both teams have a common next opponent on the road in the Los Angeles Galaxy -- New York plays them next Saturday at The Home Depot Center, Kansas City comes to town the week after.
