Rhinos, Hammerheads Gain Point As Severe Weather Calls Game

With only 11 minutes left in regulation but with torrential downpours making the field at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, NY being unplayable, the host Rochester Rhinos and the Wilmington Hammerheads saw their USL PRO game Friday called at a 1-1 draw.

After a scoreless first half, Ivan Becarra ended Rochester goalkeeper Neil Kitson's streak of minutes without giving up a goal end at 662 when, at the hour mark, he hit the back of the net off a Chris Spendlove assist.

A few minutes, Rich Costanzo fed a pass to Alfonso Motgalvan to tie the game for the Hammerheads.

Rochester improves to 3-3-2 with 11 points and is in second place in the National Division, seven points behind the Los Angeles Blues (5-2-2, 17) for the division lead. The Rhinos travel to play FC New York on Memorial Day at Belson Stadium at St. John's University.

Wilmington, at 4-1-1 with 13 points, remains in fifth place in the American Division standings and travels to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Saturday.
