RailHawks Sweep Week 8 NASL Awards

Carolina RailHawks forward Etienne Barbara and defender Brad Rusin were named the North American Soccer League's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday for Week 8 of the 2011 season.

Both players are repeat winners this season -- the fourth time for Barbara, the second time for Rusin.

Despite ending an eight-game goal scoring streak in their last game, Barbara, who leads the league in goals (11), assists (five) and points (27), assisted on both goals Saturday in a 2-0 home win at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.

Rusin led the league's best team (7-1-1, 22 points) to their second straight shutout victory and he has played in every minute of their last eight games.

The RailHawks are unbeaten in their last eight games, are on a five-game winning streak and have scored a league-best 20 goals while giving up a second-fewest eight goals.

Carolina is on the road for their next two games -- Saturday at FC Tampa Bay, June 10 at FCE Edmonton -- but return to WakeMed Soccer Park June 18 to face FC Tampa Bay.
