Ike Opara scored a header off a corner kick in the 120th minute as Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes shut out the expansion Portland Timbers 1-0 in overtime Tuesday at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, OR to advance to the next round of qualifying for a spot in the 40-team field for the 2011 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
The Earthquakes will now meet the Chicago Fire at a date, time and location to be announced soon for the right to represent the league in the tournament.
