Miles Byass led the defending USL Premier Development League champion Portland Timbers U-23s to a 2-0 shutout of the Tacoma Tide Sunday at Clackamas High School off a 31st minute penalty kick and an unassisted 46th minute goal.
The Timbers are 3-1-1 with 10 points and are in second place in the Western Conference's Northwest Division. Portland hosts the Kitsap Pumas this Friday.
Tacoma is tied for fifth place with the North Sound SeaWolves and the Washington Crossfire at 0-2-2 with two points. The Tide travels to the Abbotsford Mariners Sunday.
