MLS Suspends, Fines Mondaini For Attack On Morales

Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday they have suspended Chivas USA forward Marcos Mondaini for four games and fined him $1.500 for his vicious attack on Real Salt Lake midfielder Javier Morales in the 38th minute of a 1-0 loss last Saturday.

The punishment includes an automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine Mondaini earned for being ejected from the game.

Mondaini’s attack caused Morales to undergo surgery for a fractured ankle and torn ligament and Morales will be out of action for as long as five months.
