Heat Kick The Sockers At TAMIU

After giving up an early goal by Mariano Sapien, Armando Begines had an unassisted 58th minute goal and Daniel Garza assisted Juan Cruz on an 87th minute strike as the host Laredo Heat edged the West Texas United Sockers 2-1 Friday in USL Premier Development League play at the Texas A&M International University's Soccer Complex.

The Heat are 2-0-0 with six points and tied for the lead in the league's Southern Conference - Mid-South Division with the rebranded Chivas El Paso Patriots (2-1-0), who Laredo host Saturday.

West Texas, at 1-2-0 with three points, in in third place and will travel to the RGV Grandes Saturday.
