Gibbs Goal Rocks Earthquakes, Forces Draw With Fire

Baggio Husidic and Marco Pappa assisted Cory Gibbs on an 80th minute goal that caused the host Chicago Fire to play the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-2 draw in Major League Soccer play Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.

San Jose took the opening lead in the fourth minute as Ramiro Corrales scored off an Anthony Ampaipitakwong assist, but Dominic Oduro would hit an equalizer for Chicago in the 57th minute with help from Cristian Nazarit.

Off passes from Corrales and Ampaipitakwong in the 74th minute, defending league Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowki put San Jose back on top 2-1 before Gibbs' game-tying goal.

Both teams are in eighth place in their respective conferences after the tie -- Chicago is 1-4-5 with eight points in the Eastern, San Jose is 3-4-3 with 12 in the Western -- and both teams host games next Saturday against the Seattle Sounders and Houston Dynamo, respectively.
