Freddy Gomez and Hakan Ilhan scored goals as the Carolina Dynamo shut out the Real Maryland Monarchs 2-0 Saturday in USL Premier Development League play at Richard Montgomery High School.
Carolina (2-0-0, six points) and Real Maryland (2-1-0, six) are tied for second in the Eastern Conference's South Atlantic Division, four points behind the West Virginia Chaos (3-1-0, nine) for first place.
The Dynamo finish off their weekend Sunday at the Northern Virginia Royals, while the Monarchs are off until Friday when they face the Chaos on the road.
