Crew Hosts Sounders In Draw Saturday

The Columbus Crew and the Seattle Sounders played to a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer play Saturday at Crew Stadium.

Seattle scored their goal in the seventh minute as Erik Friberg assisted Fredy Montero, but the Crew countered in the 67th minute on an Emilio Renteria penalty kick.

Columbus, at 3-1-4 with 13 points, are tied for second place in the Eastern Conference standings with the Philadelphia Union (4-2-1), both three points behind the New York Red Bulls (4-1-3, 15) for the conference lead. The Crew will face the San Jose Earthquakes on the road next Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Seattle is alone in fourth place in the Western Conference standings at 3-3-4 with 13 points and hosts the Portland Timbers next Saturday at Qwest Field.
