Fredy Gomez and Karo Okiomah assisted Hakan Ilhan on goals in the 18th and 40th minute as the host Carolina Dynamo shut out the Virginia Beach Piranhas 3-0 in USL Premier Development League play Saturday at Macpherson Stadium.
Okiomah also scored a goal in the 12th minute off a Sam Redmond assist in the victory.
The Dynamo, at 3-1-0 with nine points, share the lead in the Eastern Conference's South Atlantic Division with the West Virginia Chaos (3-2-0) and the Real Maryland Monarchs (same as Carolina). Carolina hosts the Northern Virginia Royals next Saturday.
Virginia Beach is 1-3-0 with three points and shares fourth place in the division with the Royals (1-2-0) and the expansion Fredericksburg Hotspur (same as Northern Virginia), who they host next Saturday.
