Carmichael To Retire From Nor'Easters After 2011 PDL Season

The Ocean City Nor'Easters of the USL Premier Development League announced Thursday forward Byron Carmichael's 2011 season will be his last with the franchise as he will retire at season's end.

He currently is the team's all-time leading goal scorer (57), assist leader (24), points leader (138), minutes played leader (7,236) and games played leader (102) and is third in league history in goals scored and sixth in points.

Carmichael could move up in the league ranks in those categories this season, as the only active player on both lists is forward Kenny Uzoigwe of the Michigan Bucks.

Carmichael played college soccer at Marshall and has played in Major League Soccer, the Major Indoor Soccer League, the A-League and the USL Pro Select League during his career.

He also serves as the assistant coach to the women's soccer team at Rutgers-Camden University and is head coach of the Nor'Easters U-17 boys team in the USL Super-Y League. Carmichael is also a fourth grade teacher with the Trenton, NJ school district.
