Blake Brettschneider teamed with Chris Pontius on Perry Kitchen's 13th minute goal and fed a pass to Josh Wolff on an 85th minute play as DC United got past the Portland Timbers 3-2 in Major League Soccer play Sunday at JELD-WEN Field.
Pontius also scored on a penalty kick in the 75th minute.
Jack Jewsbury had a 67th minute penalty kick for Portland to tie the game at 1-1 and Jeremy Hall assisted Jorge Perkins on an 88th minute goal.
United is 4-4-3 with 15 points and are tied for third place in the Eastern Conference with the Houston Dynamo (3-4-6). DC travels to The Home Depot Center this Friday to play the league's best team, the Los Angeles Galaxy.
