Braun Hat Trick Gives Chivas USA Upset Win Over Red Bulls

Justin Braun had a hat trick to surprisingly guide underdog Chivas USA to a 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer play Sunday to end Week 9 of the 2011 season at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

Braun had unassisted goals in the sixth and 56th minute and was assisted by Ante Jazic and Heath Pierce on a 31st minute strike.

The Red Bulls tied the game at 1-1 in the 21st minute when Rafael Marquez assisted Thierry Henry on a goal, then tied the game again at 2-2 in the 35th off a Dwayne De Rosario penalty kick before Braun had his third -- and game-winning -- goal over twenty minutes later.

Chivas USA leveled their record at 3-3-3 with 12 points, good for seventh in the Western Conference standings, and will host the Los Angeles Galaxy in their traditional SuperClasico matchup at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, which both teams share.

Despite the loss, the Red Bulls remain the leader in the Eastern Conference standings with a 4-2-3 record and 15 points. They will travel to the Houston Dynamo Saturday for their next game.
