Toronto FC and the host San Jose Earthquakes played to a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer play Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
Alan Gordon had Toronto's goal in the 27th minute, but Simon Dawkins countered for San Jose in the 38th minute.
Toronto FC is now 1-1-2 with five points and in a three-way tie for third place in the Eastern Conference with the Columbus Crew, who played to a scoreless draw to Chivas USA Saturday, and the New York Red Bulls, who lost Saturday 1-0 to the Philadelphia Union. Toronto hosts DC United Saturday at BMO Field.
San Jose has a similar record as Toronto but is in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Western Conference with the Seattle Sounders, who beat the Chicago Fire 2-1 Saturday, and the Vancouver Whitecaps, who play at the Houston Dynamo Sunday. The Earthquakes travel to Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ next Saturday.
