The Portland Timbers announced Friday they will host the San Jose Earthquakes May 3 at JELD-WEN Field in the second of three play-in games to earn the final two spots for Major League Soccer in the 40-team field for the 2011 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
The winner will then host the Chicago Fire later in May, with that winner earning one of the two berths.
