Timbers Gain First MLS Point In Draw With Revolution

Portland Timbers captain Jack Jewsbury scored in the 38th minute with help from Jeremy Hall and Kenny Cooper as they earned their first Major League Soccer standings point in a 1-1 draw Saturday at Gillette Stadium against the New England Revolution.

Rookie Stephen McCarthy had New England's goal unassisted in the 22nd minute.

The Timbers are 0-2-1 with a point and are tied with Chivas USA and FC Dallas for seventh lace in the Western Conference. Portland hosts Chivas at JELD-WEN Park April 14.

New England, meanwhile, is 1-0-2 with five points and tied for second place in the Eastern Conference with the New York Red Bulls, one point behind the Philadelphia Union (2-1-0, six points) for first place, and play at the Vancouver Whitecaps this Wednesday, then return to Gillette to host Real Salt Lake next Saturday.
