In a match against teams from competing pro leagues, Allan Russell's goal in the 29th minute was all that was needed for the North American Soccer League's Carolina RailHawks to beat the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL PRO 1-0 Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
The RailHawks ended their preseason schedule with a 4-1-2 record and open NASL play Saturday by hosting the Puerto Rico Islanders in a rematch of the 2010 championship game of the USSF Division 2 Pro League, won by the Islanders.
The Hammerheads begin their USL PRO season April 16 at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, NC against the Rochester Rhinos.
