The New England Revolution claimed the rights to US Men's National Team midfielder Benny Feilhaber Tuesday in a Major League Soccer allocation draft after the top two teams in the draft's order, Chivas USA and the Philadelphia Union, both passed on their opportunities to gain his services.
The Revolution now must either sign him to a contract or trade his rights to another team, if they do not want him.
Team officials refused to speak to MLSSoccer.com Tuesday in regard to their plans for Feilhaber, who signed a contract with the league last Friday after playing the last three seasons in the Danish SuperLiga with AGF Aarhus.
Since they did not claim Feilhaber's rights, Chivas and the Union retain their spots in the allocation draft. Should New England sign him to a contract, they would drop to the last spot in the draft order, otherwise, they will not lose their draft spot, either.
